What kind of name is Nemo Nox?
It's Latin. Nemo means nobody. Nox means night.
Where are you from?
I was born in Brazil.
Where do you live now? Where did you live before?
I went to Europe in 1981, returned to Brazil in 1983, went back to Europe in 1988, returned to Brazil in 1995, and moved to the USA in 2001. Now I live in Washington, DC.
When did you create your first website?
In 1997 I created my first personal website, very unnoriginally called Nemo Nox Cyberhome. It won a few awards, including Windows Magazine HotSpot and Cool Central Cool Site of the Hour.
Is it true that you created the first Brazilian weblog?
The weblog Diário da Megalópole was created in March of 1998. In February of the same year, Brazilian Viviane Menezes created her White Noise, a weblog in English. So she was probably the first Brazilian to create a weblog, while I probably created the first weblog in Portuguese.
Do you still have a weblog?
Yes. In 2001 I started a new weblog in Portuguese, Por um Punhado de Pixels, which has been featured in several national newspapers and magazines. In 2004, it won the user award for Best Weblog in the Deutsche Welle International Weblog Awards.
What other websites did you create?
In 1998 I started Esfera, a Brazilian cultural webzine, which was published until 2001. During that period I also published Pijama Selvagem, a humor website. In 2001, both Esfera and Pijama Selvagem were archived and I started Burburinho, which was published up to 2006. In 2002 and 2003 I also had a visual weblog called Pictoblog, and in 2005 I created a little portal for short, short, short stories, The House of a Thousand Doors.
